Alejandro Guerra, 79, of Altus, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joe Arledge officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Edinburg, Texas, to Marceleno and Romanita Guerra. He attended school in Texas. He married Maria Amelia Sanchez in 1946 in McAllen, Texas. He worked on farms all his life. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed playing cards and watching football with his family and friends. He loved his farm work and joking around with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Eleno Guerra, Daniel Guerra, Martin Guerra, Pete Guerra, Juan Guerra; and two sisters, Janie Rodriguez and Antonia Guerra.

He is survived by his wife Maria Amelia Guerra of Altus; five daughters, Yolanda Alcorta and husband Reynaldo of Arlington, Texas, Delia Esquivel and husband Federico of Altus, Romanita Alcorta and husband Jose of Altus, Lucia Childers and husband Charles of Midwest City, Gilda Ramirez and husband Rigoberto of Altus, and Cruzita M. Gonzales and husband Lupe of McAllen; two sons, Alex Guerra Jr. and wife Gayla of Altus, and Dario Guerra and wife Julie of Altus; 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many friends.
