The Altus Public Library has two exhibits on display honoring Black History Month

. The exhibits, “Black Art-Ancestral Legacy” and “They called us Colored,” will be on display during the month of February during regular library hours. For more information contact the library at 477-2890.

Altus Masonic Lodge Number 62 will host the District 32 School from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 9-11. Food will be available during the noon and evening meals. All Masons are urged to attend. This is the time to upgrade proficiency.

The Officers’ Spouses’ Club is hosting a Sweetheart Scotch Doubles Crazy Bowl Fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 10, at the Altus Bowling Center. Register at 6:30 p.m. The event starts at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $30 per couple. Early registration guarantees entry. Walk-ins welcome but subject to availability. “TAB” Parents and “That Altus Band” will hold a garage sale and pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Altus Community Center on Falcon Road. $5 for the breakfast, children 12 and under $3.

First Presbyterian Church will be having a guest speaker, the Rev. Thomas Hanes Sr., to deliver the sermon at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at 208 E. Cypress.

The Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently taking registration for an evening Child and Infant CPR/First Aid class to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at 905 N. 4th Annual Red Cross Dinner Theatre will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Western Oklahoma State College. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at the Red Cross Office, First National Bank, First State Bank, Mid First Bank and WOSC.

Habitat for Humanity Luncheon, hosted by Altus High School Student Council, will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Altus Community Center on Falcon Road. $5 per person. A Better Youth Foundation will offer Spring Break Flag Football starting March 10 for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Registration can be done from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2219 Falcon Road. Or register at Wal-Mart on Feb. 9 and 12. Participants must be registered by Feb. 24. Participation is free. Parents are responsible for T-Shirt, which is $8. Volunteer coaches are still needed.
