That Altus Band Parents Association will have their annual jazz band performance, spaghetti dinner and silent auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Altus High School cafeteria. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased by calling the band room or 477-0113.

A defensive driving class is being offered from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in Mangum. The 6-hour classroom instruction is approved by the National Safety Council and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. The $50 fee is set by the Oklahoma Legislature. Oklahoma author Ami Elizabeth Reeves will be at the Altus Public Library on Saturday, March 4, to present a review of her new book “Next of Kin” and a writing workshop. The event, sponsored by the Southern Prairie Library System and the Circuit Writers Guild of Altus, begins with the review at 10 a.m. The workshop begins at 1 p.m.

The Upward Bound Parent Committee will be hosting a big yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at 2108 N. Main (in front of the Tech Education Building at WOSC). Seven different schools participating. All money will go to the students for a college scholarship.

A 55 Alive safe driving course sponsored by the Associated Christian Ministries (ACMI) and AARP will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the Towers. Cost will be $10.
