Ben Hayes fired a four-hitter in a 2-1 victory over Weatherford, while Caleb Ellison and Matt Meier struck out 14 batters in a 6-4 win over Hennessey.
In the Weatherford game, the Bulldogs scored a single run in the top of the second on an RBI single by Michael Jackson.
The Bulldogs escaped disaster in the home half of the second when the Eagles loaded the bases with none out, but could score only one run. Hayes threw three ground ball outs to get out of the inning.
Altus scored the winning run in the fifth when Tyrese Flagg walked and scored on singles by Bucky Buxton, Kirk Luebking and Meier.
There was an anxious moment in the home half of the seventh inning when Weatherford had a runner on third base with two out. A weak ground ball was hit to the left side of the infield. Sophomore third baseman Blake Stepanovich fielded the dribbler and fired to first for the third out to end the game.
Hayes led the Altus hitting attack with two hits in three trips to the plate.
Defense was a problem for the Bulldogs in the Hennessey game. Altus made four errors, three of which came in the third inning which gave Hennessey four unearned runs.
Altus scored twice in the bottom of the third on a two-run scoring double by Meier.
The Bulldogs exploded for four runs in the fifth. A Hennessey error and a two-run scoring single by Stepanovich keyed the rally.
Meier came in relief of Ellison in the third inning and struck out 11 batters.
Luebking, Hayes and Stepanovich went two for three in the game.
Altus is now 4-1 on the season. They will play at Lawton MacArthur on Saturday at 11 a.m.
