In light of recent rainfall, Gov. Brad Henry has lifted the burn ban for all 77 counties in the state, but he added that Oklahomans must remain vigilant guarding against the continued threat of fire.

“As a result of significant rainfall over the past few days, experts at the state Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry have evaluated the situation and believe we can now lift the statewide burn ban,” Henry said.

“Although the outdoor burn ban is lifted, it is critical that Oklahomans remain vigilant in guarding against the threat of wildfires. If conditions warrant, we stand ready to reinstate the burn ban as needed.”

The Governor praised Oklahoma firefighters for their efforts combating the wildfires that have scorched hundreds of thousands of acres since last fall.

“he firefighters of our state have acted with true heroism,” he said.

“Their courage, tirelessness and hard work are an inspiration to us all.”

Gov. Henry ordered the statewide burn ban in November of 2005.
