Gladys M. Chandler, 94, of Altus, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 25, 1911, in Blossom, Texas, to Albert and May (Grant) England. She married Walter Jack Lyons in 1927. To this union, two children were born. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married Duffie Chandler in 1949. She worked as a waitress with Duffie as they owned and operated many local restaurants. She loved to cook and she enjoyed sewing, sending greeting cards and talking on the telephone. She loved music, especially playing the piano. She was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Jack Lyons and Duffie Chandler; her parents; five sisters, Curtis, Evelyn, Maude, Lois and Viola; three brothers, Silas, Beauchamp and Paul; and a grandson, Tommy Lyons.

She is survived by her son, Walter Lyons Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Mesquite, Texas; her daughter, Betty Weatherford of Altus; seven grandchildren, Cynthia Lyons, Walter Wynn Lyons, Laura Lynn Lyons, Tony Pearce, David Pearce, Greg Pearce and Allen Weatherford; nine great-grandchildren, Tony Pearce Jr., Justin Pearce, Kelly Pearce, Alex Pearce, Marcus Pearce, Tanner Pearce, and Lucas Espinosa; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Pearce and Abigail Beane.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Restlawn Cemetery in Altus with Bill Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
