ALTUS AFB - The 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus Air Force Base, will conduct a six-ship training airdrop of pallets which will parachute to a drop zone. C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft will be involved in the exercise and the airdrop will occur at 2 p.m., Tuesday at a drop zone west of Altus. The drop will exercise aircrew's abilities to palletize cargo and deliver it through an airdrop to a tactical location.

Altus AFB trains more than 2,000 aircrew annually in the C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III and the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. In addition to training, aircraft and aircrews support operations around the world, including the recent hurricane response on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Mississipi and Texas.

The aircraft will be on display to the public during the Altus Air Force Base Open House, May 20.
