She was born in Jackson County to Leslie Hurt Miller and Fannie Alice Crump Miller. She attended Headrick School and Central State Normal College in Edmond before marrying Carroll Morris Brisco on Oct. 22, 1935. She taught English and music at Ozark School in Altus and Humphreys School. She was much loved by her students and some stayed in touch with her up until her death. She also taught private piano and organ lessons.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years on Nov. 29, 2005. He was the joy of her life, and she called him “My Carroll.” They owned and operated the Moore Food Market for many years. Together they served the Lord by teach Sunday school, singing in the choir and ministering in any way they felt they could be used for the Kingdom. They were great examples to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their regular church attendance and service.
She was happiest when she was making sure everyone had plenty to eat, was warm and was comfortable. She constantly watched to see how she could make things pleasant for everyone around her, especially, her Carroll.
The medical personnel in the hospital often remarked about how sweet and kind she was to everyone.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Ann Badry and husband Jimell, Alice Jeanette Spencer, John Morris Brisco and wife Virginia; grandchildren, Steven Robert Wilson and wife Karen, Anne Carol Miller, the Rev. Jay Warren Badry and wife Becky, Elizabeth Ann Owen and husband Dan, Matthew James Brisco; step-granddaughter, Diana Khanagov; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Hurt Miller and Fannie Alice Crump Miller; her husband Carroll Morris Brisco; two sisters; four brothers; one son-in-law, Jim Spencer; and one granddaughter, Cherise Dawn Spencer;
Services were held today at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Services directed by Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, South Oklahoma City.
