A series of basic firearm safety and shooting courses for men and women will be offered beginning Saturday, May 27, at the Altus Public Library. These courses are part of the National Rifle Association's (NRA) “First Steps” program to teach firearm instruction, responsibility and safe handling to individuals who are new to the shooting sports.
Roach-Lemer Post 44 of the American Legion will host a Memorial Day breakfast at 8 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Towers meeting room. Guest speaker will be Mayor T.L. Gramling. All veterans, spouses and widows are welcome to attend. The breakfast is free.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Altus City Cemetery. Lunch will follow at VFW Post 4876, 500 Veterans Drive Military and public are invited.
