The agenda for Tuesday's meeting states that the city has experienced significant increases in costs since last revising electric rates in 2005 and rates for water, sewer, sanitation and landfill in 2004.
The proposed increases were presented during a budget meeting May 30 and approved by the council.
Following are the proposed hikes:
ELECTRICITY
- Residential
Winter (November through March)
first 750 kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0745 to $0.0797
over 750 kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0421 to $0.0455
Summer (April through October)
first 750 kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0735 to $0.0788
over 750 kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0745 to $0.0797
- Small Commercial
Winter (November through March)
all kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0598 to $0.0642
Summer (April through October)
all kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0735 to $0.0783
- Large Commercial
all kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0426 to $0.0455
- Level 2, Industrial
all kWH, per kWH: increase from $0.0302 to $0.0367
SEWER
- General Residential
minimum of $4.50 per month plus $1 per 1,000 gallons (an increase of 20 cents per thousand gallons)
- Nonresident Users
minimum of $8 per month plus $1 per 1,000 gallons (an increase of 20 cents per thousand gallons)
WATER
- All Customers Within City Limits
customer charge $6
first 3,000 gallons, per 1,000 gallons, increase from $1.80 to $2
next 37,000 gallons, per 1,000 gallons, $2.30
over 40,000 gallons, per 1,000 gallons, increase from $1.73 to $2
- Outside of City; fire service connections
double the rates provided for users within city limits
SANITATION
- Residential
increase from $10 to $10.60
- Business Establishments, Schools and Churches
increase from $18 per container to $19 per container
- All Classifications
increase from 70 cents per month to $1 for flatbed service
increase from 30 cents to 60 cents per month for solid waste management fee
LANDFILL
- Resident Contractors and Businesses
increase from $22 per ton to $23.32 per ton
- Market Area Contractors
increase from $27 per ton to $28.65 per ton
- Outside Market Area Contractors
increase from $38 per ton to $40.30 per ton
Tuesday's meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers following a special meeting at 5 p.m. to present and consider adoption of the proposed FY 2006-2007 budget.
