Pioneers may register beginning at 9 a.m. Registration fee this year is $3 which includes registration and a barbecue meal ticket. The official program will begin at 10 a.m. with the welcome given by Mangum Mayor, Bob Zinn. President Gary Houck will lead us in the flag salute. A short business meeting will open the program, followed by local and area talent. The Fiddler's Contest will begin around 11:30 a.m. Prizes for 1st place is $200; 2nd place, $175; 3rd place, $75; and 4th place, $75. Following the fiddler's contest, the awards will be presented to the winners of the contest as well as to the most authentic dressed pioneer man and woman, the oldest pioneer, and to the pioneer traveling the farthest.
Everyone is welcome, young and old. Bring your lawn chairs, bring a friend and enjoy a Saturday of fun and entertainment. Gary Houck will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon and will be in charge of the fiddlers contest. The afternoon will conclude with the Mangum Mounties parade, which will begin at 3 p.m. The barbecue will follow the parade.
Fiddler's may register for the contest as soon as they arrive. There is no fee to enter the contest.
