The Altus Public Library continues its cool summer program "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" with local performer Kevin Law and his sheepdogs.

Law and his dogs will be at the library Thursday, June 22 at 2 p.m. The program will be outside on the north side of the library on Sutherland. Dress cool and bring some drinking water with you as it is probably going to be hot.

For his program Law will be demonstrating how sheepdogs work as herders of livestock and the communication necessary between the dogs and the handler.

Law and his dogs have performed at many community events here in Altus and in the surrounding communities and he and his dogs have delighted audiences young and old alike. This program is for the whole family to come and enjoy.

For more information about the program call the library at 477-2890.

The children's film for this Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. will be "Hammy the Hamster, Tales of The Riverbank." Hammy is a 16 part series first presented on PBS. The library has all 16 and will soon be available for checkout.

Katy Sheppard of the library said that they need photos of your pets for the "Pets on Parade!"

“My dog Haley is looking very lonesome up on the wall all by herself. She is not part of the contest as staff may not enter their pets, but I thought getting her photo up would encourage you to bring a photo of your favorite pet,” Sheppard said.
