He served in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school, then was employed by the U.S. Post Office for 23 years in downtown Oklahoma City. The post office is flying the flag at half mast in honor of him.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Blackmon; sister, Linda Cartwright and husband Ron; and father, A.G. Blackmon, all of Altus. He is also survived by his wife Elizabeth; a daughter, Annaliese Burdick and husband Michael; sons, Larry, Jr. and wife Kristen, and Michael Butts and wife Mandy; five grandchildren, Kristen, Christopher, Shayla, Kailey and Michael; a niece, Jill (Vann) Jordan and husband Jimmy; and a nephew, Matthew Vann.
A memorial service was held May 15 in Luther.
