ALTUS - Altus Public Schools will hold a One-Stop Enrollment for all newcomers on Friday, August 4, at the Altus High School Cafeteria, located at 500 N. Park Avenue.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., all students new to Altus Schools may come and enroll, regardless of which school they plan to attend. Parents may make one stop, complete all paperwork, and enroll all of their children. There's no need to drive to each school. At the same time and place, all students may receive free immunizations, courtesy of the Jackson County Health Department.

The Altus Kiwanis Club is partnering with the school district to provide free breakfast pastries, juices, and milk for all coming to the event in the morning, as well as a hot-dog meal for those arriving from lunch time until 3 p.m.

Students who are enrolling in Altus Schools for the first time should bring the following items: Birth certificates for students entering school for the first time (K & Pre-K), Current immunization records, Social Security Numbers for each child (optional), previous school records, and proof of custody (for children not living with a parent).

Returning students are already pre-enrolled and do not need to come to One-Stop Enrollment, unless they need to get immunizations.

The Jackson County Health Department will be located in the Bulldog Room of the Altus High School Cafeteria during One-Stop Enrollment to provide immunizations to all Altus students (returning or new) who need them. All shots will be provided free of charge. Students should bring shot records and, if they are not accompanied by a parent, then they must bring a signed parental permission letter.

Also on August 4, from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., will be a school bus rider sign-up at the AHS Library and at the Rivers Cafeteria. All returning students planning to ride a bus to school need to sign up at one of the two locations, or contact the Altus Schools Transportation Department at 481-2103 if they cannot be at bus rider enrollment. New students will be able to sign up for bus transportation at One-Stop Enrollment in the AHS Cafeteria.

All newcomers who are unable to attend One-Stop Enrollment may enroll beginning August 5th at their respective schools. Elementary students not attending Rivers Elementary on base will need to obtain school assignment paperwork from the Altus Schools Administrative Center (located at 219 N. Lee) before they will be able to enroll.
