No bond for suspect in shooting death,

CLINTON - 20-year-old Latray Lamont Collins is being held without bond in the Custer County Jail with a first degree murder charge after the shooting death of Altus native Hubert Lynn Edwards.

According to First District Attorney Chris Kelly of Washita County, an attorney conference is set for Collins on Aug. 11 and a preliminary conference will be held Sept. 1 in Custer County.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Glennsmith Avenue in Clinton. The Clinton police department received a phone call about a shooting and officers arrived at the scene to find Edwards shot.

Witnesses told police there was an altercation between the two men and that the victim ran, the suspect followed Edwards and fired. A bullet struck Edwards in the head.
