Funeral services for Mattie “Elizabeth” Billingsley, 95, of Frederick, were held today at the Gray Gish Funeral Home with David Ridenour of the 13th and Josephine Church of Christ in Frederick officiating. Burial was to follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.

She died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at Winlen Oaks Living Center in Frederick.

She was born June 6, 1911, in Frederick to Henry Horacio and Mary Lou (Roberts) Rhodes. She gattended Frederick schools and later graduated from Hardin Simmons College.

She married Earl Oscar Billingsley and worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services as a social worker in Frederick and Oklahoma City for 35 years. She retired in 1981. She was a member of the Frederick Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl on April 9, 1979; and six brothers, William “Bill” Rhodes, Bert Rhodes, David Rhodes, Greg Rhodes and Jess Rhodes.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Billingsley of Frederick; a brother, Hugh Rhodes of Lubbock, Texas; a foster daughter, Judy Jones of Abilene, Texas; close friends, Dora Jones and Neva Kelly, both of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.
