Jim Ray Felty, 70, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

He was born Aug. 21, 1935, in Byers, Texas, to Flora Wallace Felty and Parrot Felty. He married Nina (Gray) Felty in Altus on Oct. 27, 1962. He was raised in Altus and had managed theaters in Altus in the mid-1950s and also worked for Jim Click Chevrolet from 1957 to 1962 in the parts department. He later worked for Jack Lovell Chevrolet in Dalhart, Texas, in parts where he worked his way up to parts manager, sales, sales manager and general manager. He purchased the dealership in 1984. It become Jim Felty Chevrolet and he operated it until 1998.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, being around family and friends, and was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart. He had attended the Grace Baptist Church in Granite.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Doyle; one brother; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Sue of the home; one son, Brian Felty and wife Lindsey of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; sisters, Marlene Huffer and husband Ralph of Vernon, Texas, and Darlene Ray Bergquest of Maine; grandchildren, Brandon, Danika and Kellan; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grace Baptist Church in Granite, officiated by Tim Montgomery, pastor, and Sue Smaaland, chaplain, JCMH Hospice.

Burial will be at Lone Wolf Cemetery under the direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home.
