Altus area Guardsmen set for deployment this week

ALTUS - More than 50 members of the First Battalion, 171st Field Artillery of the Oklahoma Army National Guard headquartered at Altus have been tabbed for deployment this week. They will be helping in the federal effort to boost security along the U.S. border with Mexico.

There are approximately 40 guardsmen from the 1st Battalion, 158th Artillery at Lawton who have also been assigned to border patrol duties. The Southwest Oklahoma citizen-soldiers will be among 100 from the 45th Field Artillery Brigade headquartered at Enid going on a three-week rotation.
