Bonita Imogene McDonald, 82, of Odessa, Texas, and formerly of Greer County, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in Odessa.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1923, to Willie Filey and Minnie Pearl (Manning) Griffis on the family farm west of Brinkman. A graduate of Eastview High School, she married Melvin McDonald on Aug. 30, 1941, and moved to West Texas in 1952. In 1971, they moved to Higgins, Texas, where they resided until her move to Odessa in 2000 to be near her daughter. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She loved to crochet and entered many of her dolls in the county fair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McDonald; two brothers, Othel Griffis and Hubert Griffis; two sisters, Willa Mae Griffis and Helen Ruth Byrd.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Robinett of Odessa, Loretta Shaffer of West Monroe, La., and Madonna Williams of Altus; eight grandchildren, Clint Lux of Odessa, Casey Gay of Alburn, Ala., Criston Chavarria of Charleston, S.C., Summer Stucker of Woodward, Jessica Stucker of Woodward, Dustin Stucker of West Monroe, Rodney Williams of Altus, and Celestia Fey of South Melborne, Fla.; a twin sister, Juanita Hood of Willow and brother, Morris Griffis and wife Era of Willow, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held today at the Willow Church of Christ with Jim Foster officiating. Interment was to follow at the Brinkman Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
