Altus shows modest gain in sales tax collections
The October distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission representing local tax receipts from August retail business showed that Altus received $569,737.03 in 3 percent local sales tax collections for the period. That was a modest gain of two and a quarter percent over the same month last year.

Blair and Duke had nice gains on their sales tax collections for the month, while Eldorado and Olustee showed declines.

Among other towns and cities in Southwest Oklahoma, those on the sales tax gainers list representing August business, were Gould, Hobart, Hollis, Lone Wolf, Mangum, Roosevelt, Snyder, Tipton and Willow.

Fredrick and Granite showed declines.

Jackson County sales tax receipts for the report based on August business totaled $102,259.83 compared with $98,927.83 for the same month last year..
