Second infant dies from Monday accident
OLUSTEE - Kalan E. and Chloe J. Elmore, 2-month-old infants of Janelle Perez and Brandon Elmore, died Monday from injuries received in a one-vehicle accident north of Olustee.

According to reports, Perez, 21, of Olustee, was northbound at 7:50 a.m. on State Highway 6 in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Monday when she lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. Perez over corrected, rolling the vehicle 2-1/2 times. The vehicle came to rest on its top.

Perez and her 2-month-old daughter, Chloe J. Elmore, a passenger in the vehicle, were taken by ambulance to Jackson County Memorial Hospital with multiple injuries. Both were in critical condition and were to be taken to the O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

The infant's twin, Kalan E. Elmor, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. Chloe Elmore later died from complications from the accident.

Perez is still in critical condtion, but the father of the twins, Brandon Elmore, 22, of Olustee, who was also in the vehicle, received only minor injuries.

The accident is being investigated by Trooper Michael Jewell and assisted by Troopers Mike Strain, George Dickerson, Shawn Laughlin and Jerry Howell.
