Tomasa (MaMa) Palacios Reyes, 82, of Olustee, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 27, 1924, to Reinulfo and Benita (Salinas) Palacios in Rialitos, Texas. She married Thomas Reyes Sr. on Dec. 8, 1937, and they spent 65 wonderful years together before his death on Jan. 18, 2002. A homemaker for life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, caring for her roosters and raising chickens, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three children, Pauline Reyes in 1966, Reynaldo (Ray) Reyes in 1973, and Sendy Reyes Lara in 1992; a great-great grandson, Jacob Burns in 2005; one brother, Felipe Palacios; and two sisters, Adelaida Reyes and Benita Perez.

She is survived by five sons, Martin Reyes and wife Julia of Dallas, Alesandro Reyes Torres and wife Francis of Runge, Texas, Ramiro Reyes and wife Margaret of Cache, Raul Reyes and wife Antonia of Olustee and Thomas P. Reyes and wife Maryann of Altus; seven daughters, Rebecca Lopez and husband Chuy of Olustee, Rose Hernandez and husband Adam of Altus, Rachel Reyes of Olustee, Billie Garcia and husband Robert of Fort Worth, Texas, Alicia Fixico and husband Stacy of Olustee, Alberta Aleman and husband Jose of San Antonio, and Elva Robinson and husband Colby of Duncan; 40 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A rosary will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father Joseph Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
