William “Bill” Johnson, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Hobart.

He was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Dallas to Richard and Lucy (Bartlett) Johnson. He grew up in Hobart and graduated from Hobart High School in 1951. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1956, and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He moved back to Hobart in the late 50s to manage the family lumber yard business. He also owned and operated Ace Hardware for several years before becoming a full time picture framer.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hobart. He served on the Shortgrass Playhouse Board for many years and acted in many plays.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, of the home; three daughters, Carrie Johnson and husband Blake Woolf of Tulsa, Kate Buster of Broken Arrow, and Jennie McLeod and husband Brent of Altus; four granddaughters, Nicole Buster, Kayla Buster, Megan McLeod and Bailey McLeod; and one sister-in-law, Sharon Johnson of Georgetown, Texas.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Hobart Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Weegie Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart.

Memorials may be made to the Hobart Educational enrichment fund or the Hobart Public Library.
