She was born Oct. 10, 1918, to Newt and Essie Hestand in Chico, Texas. Her family moved to Jackson County in 1920 and they settled in the Harmony area. She married Lester H. Drury on Sept. 28, 1940, in Olustee, where they lived and worked together on the family farm. She also worked in sales at Gibson's, Pride's Meat Processing and other local businesses. She was a member of the Elmer Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester; her parents, Newt and Essie; three sisters, Ora, Maude, and Elmetta; three brothers, Charlie, Howard and Vergil; and an infant great-grandson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Charlyn Sue and Carlos Carrell of Olustee; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Jan Drury of Altus; grandchildren, Cindy and Carlos Moellering of Olustee, Cheryl and David Harrod of Duke, Cary and Lynda Carrell of Olustee, and Jason Drury, also of Olustee; great-grandchildren, Amber Carrell of Olustee, Chesiree Sheehan and Brandon Puckett of Altus, and Cara Carrell, also of Altus; step-great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jason Card of Altus, Tommy Moellering, Alex Motheral, Kelli and Nicholas Wright, all of Olustee; one great-great-grandson, Anthony Basaldua; and great-great-granddaughter; two step- great-great-grandchildren, J.J. and Lily Card; one sister, Mable Barrow; and one brother, Leonard Hestand, both of Altus; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Olustee Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Moody, 304 E. 6th, Olustee, OK 73560.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Olustee Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
