Juan was born May 21, 1961, in Poteet, Texas, to Ramon and Maria (Herrera) Chavez. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1979. Juan worked for the Slagle Factory in Frederick for thirteen years. He worked for the State of Oklahoma as a guard for the Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs in Manitou, Oklahoma, for the past 2 Preceded in death by his mother, Maria Chavez and a brother, Arcadio Chavez, Juan is survived by his father, Ramon Chavez of Tipton; five brothers, Adolfo Chavez, Pedro Chavez, both of Tipton, Roberto Chavez of Lubbock, Texas, Ramon Chavez, Jr., and Gregorio Chavez, also of Tipton; two sisters, Esperanza Chavez and Margarita Chavez, also of Tipton; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A Rosary will be held 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.
The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Friday, January 26, 2007, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph H. Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at Tipton Cemetery, Tipton, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
