Frederick Police Department shuts down copper thieves

Sunday February 4th, around 8 am Officer Olson and Davis were called out on a missing juvenile complaint, after searching the area and arriving at a suspected house in Frederick belonging to Chris Fatjo, officers approached the door with the suspect giving consent to search, evidence of copper wire and electrical fittings were found in the home, upon investigation and securing all evidence there was approximately $15,000 of stolen property found.

Fatjo was placed under arrest without confertation and transported to the Tillman County Law Enforcement Center, along with investigation continuing 2 juveniles were also involved and detained with referral to the Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs facing charges of larceny of copper and possession of stolen property.

The investigation over the past few months, involving the local larceny of copper revealed other agencies in the area also having reports of larceny of copper from their respective areas.

Fatjo was interviewed by the Kiowa County Sheriff Office and confessed to other copper larcenies in Snyder, Mt. View and Gotebo.

Frederick Police Department Sergeant Nobles explained that this has been an ongoing process, with thefts going on since September 5 through September 8, the Frederick Electric Department had complained about several incidents, holes were being cut in fence and approximately $2,300 of Copper had been stolen within those 3 days.

Sergeant Nobles, Officer Olson & Davis of the Frederick Police Department and Reserve Deputy Hefner of the Tillman County Sheriff office all were involved in the investigation
