Five races develop for elected offices in Altus

Candidates had until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file for offices in the upcoming Altus election. When the filing date ended, five races had developed.

Filing for chief of police were inclumbent Mike Patterson and Bob Petkoff. For mayor, Arvella Wall and Rick Steen filed against incumbent T.L. Gramling; incumbent Holmes Willis filed for street commissioner with no opposition; city clerk/treasurer incumbent LaJune White filed with no opposition; councilman Ward 1 Jerry Don Henry filed for re-election but has since withdrawn, leaving David Brown and Troy Harter in the race; Danny McCuistion filed for Ward 2 against incumbent Sid Willis; Peggy Risinger filed for Ward 3; Jamie Landers and Wanda Watson filed for Ward 4 against incumbent Don Johnson; and David Webb filed unopposed for the two-year unexpired term in Ward 1.

In Blair a race developed for the Ward 1 post on the Town Board of Trustees between Charles M. Bolton, Al Sullivan and Mildred Jackson. Filing unopposed were incumbents Blake Roberts in Ward 3 and Larry Paxton in Ward 5, and Janet K. Winters, Town Clerk/Treasurer.

A race also developed at Martha for two positions on the Town Board. Donald W. Hervey, Barbara Sotelo and Barbara Jean Smith will vie for the two seats. Incumbent Stephanie Eden filed unopposed for Martha town clerk-treasurer.

At Duke, all incumbents filed unopposed for re-election: Rebecca Warren for town clerk-treasurer, Timmy Johns, Bobby Baird and Dennis Hennessey for three four-year terms on the Town Board of Trustees; and Mark Hasty for a two-year term.

In Eldorado incumbent Janice Hunter filed unopposed for town clerk-treasurer and Clyde Hill filed for one of two posts on the Town Board. Dennie Christian had filed on Monday but later withdrew her name.

In Olustee, incumbents Scott Johnson, Raymond Moody and Gary King filed without opposition for three seats on the Town Board, and incumbent Kim Feller filed unopposed for town clerk-treasurer.

In Headrick, Karen Hoover filed unopposed for town clerk-treasurer, incumbent Steve Jameson filed unopposed for a four-year term on the Town Board of Trustees and incumbent Roy W. Butler and Carlos Mendoza filed for the two positions for two-year terms on the Town Board. Municipal elections will be held April 3.
