Elaine Dodd, vice president of the fraud division of Oklahoma Bankers Association, will present two programs, one addressing bank and business fraud and the other identity theft, at Southwest Technology Center on Tuesday, April 17. Both are open to the public at no charge.

The program dealing with fraud is entitled “Is It Real? “and will be presented twice, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. “Identity Theft” will be presented from 7 to 8 p.m.

According to Dianna Thompson, coordinator for business development, the program “Is It Real?” will appeal primarily to bankers and other business people and will include information concerning how to recognize fraud. Other topics to be addressed will include bogus checks, schemes and trends, information security, robbery trends and more.

Most individuals will benefit from the information Dodd presents during the identity theft segment when she will talk about ways in which a person's identity is stolen and the possible ramifications. She will also address current scams and trends and other consumer related topics. Seating is limited and pre-registration is requested.

The first female narcotic agent, Dodd retired in 1995 as director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics after spending 22 years with the agency. Her tenure included investigating white collar crimes, serving as agent in charge of training and education programs and chief agent in charge of diversion and physical/pharmacy education programs.

For six years she coordinated the community outreach effort for Leadership Oklahoma, assisting in organizing local leadership groups, facilitation retreats and teaching and enhancing skills at the local level.
