Shortgrass Arts Institute to offer portrait drawing class at Altus Library

ALTUS - An adult class in portrait drawing will be held at the Altus Public Library from 6 to 9 p.m. April 24-26. The cost of the class is $30 and all materials will be provided. Space for the class is limited, so pre-registration is required.

Instructor for the class is Altus High School art instructor Bobby Avila. Avila is a new art instructor for the Shortgrass Institute. He is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in art education. He has been teaching for seven years.

For the portrait drawing class, students will be using charcoal or pastels.

The class is sponsored by the Shortgrass Institute and is made by possible by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. For more information call the library at 477-2890.
