ALTUS - Women from the Altus Department of Corrections have chosen CASA as their charity to assist for this year's annual run/walk.

The inmates are self motivated to collect sponsorships from the community, city employees, corrections officers, churches and even contribute money from their own earned income.

"Some of us have been victims of child abuse or perhaps our children have, and we want to help the children. It's all about the children," said one inmate. Last year, $1,200 was raised and donated to ACMI House to support domestic violence prevention.

The run/walk will be held Saturday, April 28th from 7-10:00 am at the Altus Junior

High School track. The community is invited and encouraged to come out and walk to

show their support for the DOC ladies and the CASA program. A faith-based

organization-Threshhold- which supports the DOC women will be present to offer

water and fruit to walkers.

Donations can be made through Captain Mark Leistner @ the DOC Center @ 482-0790 or

through CASA Board member, Freddy Perez @ 301-3123.
