Olustee man stable after motorcycle accident

OLUSTEE - A 26-year-old Olustee man is in stable condition after a motorcycle accident Saturday north of Olustee.

According to reports, John Lewis was northbound on State Highway 6 driving a green 2005 Kawasaki Ninja when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the highway hitting a delineator.

He was thrown about 30 feet from the vehicle. The vehicle overturned, coming to rest on the left side.

Lewis was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by Jackson County EMS.

He was admitted with internal, arm and leg injuries and was listed in stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Steve Pothorst of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M.

He was assisted by Lt. Tom Pogue, Trooper Michael Jewell, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County EMS and the Olustee Police Department.
