ALTUS AFB - 158 brand new homes are being developed by GMH Military Housing to provide Air Force families with all the comfort and amenities of upscale civilian living.

Senior officials of the Department of the Air Force and GMH Military Housing will hold the first neighborhood groundbreaking ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at the Old Bicentennial Neighborhood on Altus Air Force Base. The event commemorates the beginning of brand new military housing at Altus Air Force Base. Existing homes will be demolished to make way for 158 brand new 3 and 4 bedroom single family and Townhouse homes for enlisted airmen as well as Senior NCO and officers. The new homes feature 2 baths, fully equipped modern kitchens, central heat and air, plenty of storage space, washer/dryer hookups and garages.

The plan for family housing revitalization at Altus Air Force Base began in February. In the first 4 years of the plan 315 existing homes will be demolished, 158 new homes will be constructed, 385 existing homes will be renovated, a community center will be built and playgrounds/tot lots will be installed.
