According to reports by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, A 2004 GMC pickup driven by Charles Myers, 22, of Lonewolf, was discovered at 10:06 a.m. three miles west of Lonewolf.
Myers was pronounced dead at the scene of massive injuries. He was extracted from the pickup by the Hobart Fire Department with the jaws of life.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
According to reports, Myers was eastbound on State Highway 9 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and went into a broad slide traveling off the south side of the roadway. the vehicle struck a stop sign and then a tree.
Myers was not wearing a seat belt, and the airbag functioned properly.
The accident was investigated by Trooper George Hoyle of the Kiowa County detachment of the OHP. He was assisted by Lt. Mike Holloway, Kiowa County EMS, the Lonewolf Police Department, Hobart Fire Department and the Kiowa County Sheriff's Office.
