Plans under way for annual Great Plains Stampede Rodeo

The annual Great Plains Stampede Rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 23-25 at the Altus rodeo arena south of the Veterans and Broadway intersection.

The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. each night.

General admission and box seat advance tickets are now available. Children 6 and younger are admitted free.

Military night starts at 6 p.m. Aug. 23, and includes a free barbecue with a military member's ticket at 6 p.m.

A Rodeo parade is also scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 25. Parade line-up starts at noon that day at the City Reservoir. Cash prizes will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries. All float contestants will receive free hot dogs and hamburgers at the rodeo grounds following the parade.

The deadline to enter is Aug. 22. Contact Jane Roberts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 482-6100, or after 5 p.m. at 738-5209 to enter your float or for more information.

A rodeo dance will be held after the Aug. 25 rodeo until 1 a.m. at the National Guard Armory.
