Three homes of prominent citizens burglarized
ALTUS - The homes of three prominent Altus residents were burglarized Wednesday night and early this morning, and none of them was locked when the burglaries took place.
While the residents were home during the deed, perpetrated by at least one man whom Altus police consider a “person of interest,” no one was hurt, according to Altus Police Chief Mike Patterson.
At around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Patterson said, a burglary was reported at the home of Dr. Tom Shurley, 509 Vista del Sol. The burglar removed two laptop computers.
Then, sometime between 5 and 7 a.m. today, at the home of WOSC President Randy Cumby, the burglar left a pair of Adidas shoes he was wearing and took a generic pair of shoes from the home.
The other home burglarized is that of attorney Phil Olson, at 221 Paseo de Vida.
Patterson said police are looking at trace evidence and have identified a “person of interest” in the case.
“He's risking an incredible amount of time in prison for very little return,” Patterson said.
