The building fund drive continues. The Altus Chamber of Commerce and the Altus Community Foundation are accepting donations and pledges in order to defray the cost of renovations at 301 West Commerce. Construction is set to start shortly. A “move-in” date has not been established at this time but will be before the end of the year.

The Altus Chamber of Commerce was first established as the Altus Civic and Commercial Club, in 1908 and in 1941 it was officially incorporated as the Altus Chamber of Commerce. Over the past ninety nine years your chamber has carried out these purposes through a great number of programs and activities. Long term, on-going interests of the chamber include economic development, business and community development, youth, transportation, education, public affairs, agriculture development, tourism and recreation and military development. The Altus Community Foundation is a public charitable non-profit. Some of the projects the foundation has sponsored include a clean-up campaign, Imagination Station and some smaller projects.

A donation to the chamber is tax deductible as a business expense and a donation to the foundation is a tax deductible as a charitable expense to either a business or individual. If enough money is raised, we may be able to get into the building debt free. As always, thanks to the generosity of our membership, Altus, as a community, is on the move. We see a bright future for our area and with the new chamber facility, we can project a progressive community image.
