Michael Bates, Frederick, is facing charges of Second Degree Burglary charges after being arrested by Sheriff Bobby Whittington on Monday, October 29, 2007. Sheriff Whittington states that the arrest comes after an investigation into a burglary report filed by Harold Tomlinson on behalf of property owner Frank Krayaca. Krayaca owns property north of Frederick and reported that sometime between October 20 to October 23, 2007 unknown persons entered his barn and removed copper wiring.

Sheriff Whittington also advises that his department is currently investigating several cattle thefts that have occurred in the northeast part of Tillman County near the Tillman, Kiowa, and Comanche County line. “With the price of cattle being pretty high right now, and scrap copper selling for $2.00 a pound, people need to check on their barns and cattle often,” Sheriff Whittington said. “I want to ask the citizen's to keep a watchful eye out for suspicious vehicles or persons, and if anyone comes across anything out of the ordinary to please call me. The recent robbery in Frederick was solved by a citizen of this county that saw the suspects in a rural area and contacted the Sheriff Department, and reported that activity.” Sheriff Whittington advises citizens to use caution in dealing with suspicious activity. “Please don't put yourself in a dangerous situation, call us and give us as much a description of the person or vehicle, and the direction of travel, and let us handle the situation” stated Sheriff Whittington. Sheriff Whittington can be reached at 580-585-1237.
