Entries are being accepted for the 27th annual Christmas Parade set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. There is no entry fee to participate as local business and industry underwrite and sponsor the cost of the parade. Ed Fayak, Lee Office Equipment is chairman of the fund raising for the parade.
Prizes will be awarded to Float entries in five categories: Grand Marshal, $300; First Place, School and Youth , $200; First Place, Church, $200; First Place, Civic & Commercial, $200; and First Place, Altus Air Force Base, $200.
Stop by the office at 123 W. Commerce Street on the 5th floor or call 482-0210 for your entry forms. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26.
The parade route will run from Western Oklahoma State College south and will disband at Commerce Street in downtown Altus.
Our parade theme is “Oklahoma Heritage - A Centennial Christmas”. The Altus Chamber of Commerce organizes the parade with Debbie Davis as Chairman. Masters of Ceremony for the parade will be Eddie and Joan Wilcoxen with KWHW Radio. The parade is a community project with the City of Altus, WOSC and Altus Air Force Base and other volunteers providing many needed services.
The Parade Grand Marshals this year are Mayor of the Year T.L. Gramling and his wife Nelda Gramling.
