Several friends and family members of murder victim, Roshone Bell, gathered outside the Harmon County Courthouse yesterday to protest the continuance of one of the men possibly involved with Bell's murder.

Bradley Greg Hayes, of Hollis, was charged with shooting into a dwelling back in August of this year. The “dwelling” that he shot into was the home of Bell.

Harold Boggs, also of Hollis, has been charged with Bell's murder.

Hayes was scheduled for a court appearance yesterday and when Bell's family arrived, they found out that the hearing had been postponed for a later date.

Feeling misinformed as well as mistreated, the family decided to picket outside the courthouse until they got some answers.

Assistant District Attorney Eric Yarborough said that he didn't understand why the family was so upset, as he has tried unsuccessfully to obtain contact information to keep them informed.

“They have refused to give me their names and numbers to keep them updated and that's kind of frustrating,” he said.

Yarborough explained that the reason for the continuance was that he was scheduled to appear for a jury trial in another county, which is given precedence over preliminary hearings.

Hayes next scheduled appearance is set for Monday, Nov. 26.

Boggs next court date would have been on Thursday, Nov. 29, but Yarborough has asked for another continuance in that case in hopes of locating a material witness for both crimes.

Bell had a roommate named John Garcia who possibly saw everything that happened on that fateful August morning.

“It will definitely make our case a lot stronger if we can find Garcia,” said Yarborough. “But I don't think he's gonna turn up in the next few days, that's why I asked for the continuance.”

The murder case is scheduled for a status conference on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 9:30 a.m. in the Harmon County Courthouse.
