Jimmie Strawn, incumbent, filed Tuesday for Office #3 on the Eldorado Board of Education, and Dean Rice, incumbent, filed for Office #3 on the Duke School Board.

Dennis Vernon, incumbent, has filed for re-election to the Zone Four post on the Southwest Technology Center Board of Education.

The three-day filing period for school board positions in Jackson County was to end at 5 p.m. today at the County Election Board Office.

As of presstime, only one race has developed. For Office #3 on the Altus Board of Education Linda Buxton, incumbent, is challenged by former school board member Rosalyn Hall. Keith Phillips has also filed for the three year unexpired term in Office #1. Phillips is currently serving by appointment.

In Navajo, incumbent Gary Cobb has filed for Office #3, and Wayne Cain has filed for the four year unexpired term in Office #2. Cain is currently serving by appointment.

Races that develop will be decided in the Feb. 5, 2008 school elections.
