Eulan C. (Dick) Carter, 90, long time Altus resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kincannon Funeral Home with the Rev. Suzanne Mollison officiating.

Mr. Carter was born on June 19, 1917, in Carmel to James Richard and Chalcie Doan (Wilkiey) Carter. He was the ninth of 10 children and attended school in Victory and Olustee. He married Ida Mae Bussey in 1939 in Altus. He worked for the Ford dealership in Altus for 45 years retiring in 1982. He was of the Methodist faith. He coached his sons in Little League sports and didn't miss a home game of the Altus Bulldogs for many years. He was voted "Coach of the Week" for the Altus Bulldogs in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, all Altus High School sporting events, WOSC, OU, OSU and Dallas Cowboys sporting events. He especially enjoyed visiting with people at the donut shop, but above all, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He just loved children!

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; five brothers; son-in-law, Jim Holland; and grandson, Micah Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Ida Mae of the home in Altus; daughter, Linda Copeland and husband Glenn of Altus; daughter, Donna Seifried and husband Dennis of Weatherford; sons, Gary Carter and wife Nancy of Houston, Texas, and Jimmy Carter and wife Deb of Moore; sister-in-law, June Hunt of Altus; eight grandchildren, Jay Holland and wife Christina of Oklahoma City, Mark Carter and wife Sharon of San Antonio, Texas, Sohn Seifried of Weatherford, Stefan Seifried of Altus, Dallas Carter of Moore, Boone Copeland and wife Kim of Lawton, Rocky Copeland of Edmond, and Misty Johnson of Moore; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda and Emma Carter, Carter Holland, Miranda Uranga, Zoe Johnson and Casey and Jonathan Copeland; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
