County sales tax ‘holding its own’

The Jackson County Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Monday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m.

The three commissioners, Chairman Cary Carrell, Anthony Fixico and Marty Clinton approved the minutes from last meeting on Monday, June 13. There were no reports, Officers' reports, or blanket purchase orders for approval.

The commissioners signed the draw down from FEMA to SWODA for Hazard Mitigation Plan for $14,225.42.

Treasurer Janet Wright submitted the Resale Deeds for property acquired at June 13 resale. These parcels were sold for lack of payment of taxes. Nineteen of these were sold to individuals, collecting $15,843. These parcels were sold "as is". Twenty-one parcels were sold to the county.The commissioners motioned to accept these deeds and approved their receipt.

A contract with Kellpro Software license and maintenance between Jackson County Commissioners and Kellpro Inc. was approved for a sum of $1,986.40. The contract between Kellpro Software license and maintenance between Jackson County County Clerk and Kellpro Inc. was approved for $5,314.40.

No action was taken on the Disaster Emergency Proclamation within Jackson County/City of Altus.

In new business, Wright gave the sales tax report as $111,052.41 and "holding its own", according to her figures. The user tax was $5,419.82, up about $300 from the previous month.

There were no public or vendor participation items. The claims were approved and the meeting adjourned at 10:21 a.m.
