In conjunction with the annual Zachary Cook Fun Run/Walk that was set for Saturday, July 9, Altus Mayor David Webb signed a proclaimation honoring him this week. The proclaimation reads as follows:

Whereas, Zachary J. Cook Day was initiated to remember and celebrate the life of an Altus High School student tragically killed in an airplane crash November 8, 2009. Zachary is the son of Perry and Christa (Brewer) Cook. Zachary was a young man who touched many lives all around the world with his big smile and personality; and

Whereas, from this day forward Zachary J. Cook Day will occur in the summer with an annual Fun Run / Walk and celebration to be held in July; and

Whereas, Zachary J. Cook Day is a celebration to Zachary's life in conjunction with the day's events and raising scholarship funds for graduating seniors at Altus High School; and

Whereas, Zachary J. Cook Day celebrates the efforts of the community to provide scholarships to graduating seniors of Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma while working with local business partners and volunteers.

Now, therefore, I, David Webb, Mayor of the City of Altus, Oklahoma do hereby proclaim July 9, 2011 as: Zachary J. Cook Day in Southwest Oklahoma and urge all citizens to participate in the activities planned henceforth.
