Celebration of Life Tribute services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday at The First Baptist Church in Altus, with Jim Willis and Kirby Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at the Boggy Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Benton Edgar Drury was born March 9, 1993, to Tim and Lisa (Hunter) Drury in Altus. He attended school and graduated from Olustee High School in 2011, and was about to begin studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University as part of the rodeo team. He was a member of the Eldorado Primitive Baptist Church, Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association, 4-H, and the Olustee Student Council. He played basketball and was an avid team roper. Ed was also active in various mission projects, including Youth Force, and took a memorable trip to Guatemala with his best friend, his Dad.
Ed will forever be remembered as a kind young man with a contagious smile. He lit up a room when he walked-in and had the ability to make anyone smile and laugh. Ed was a friend to everyone, despite their age, background, or personality, because he took the time to truly know people. If you met him once, no matter how briefly, you considered him a friend. His zest for life will not be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by “Grandma Sara”, Joann Hunter.
Ed leaves behind his parents, Tim and Lisa of Olustee; two sisters, Riley and Bailey Drury of Olustee; girlfriend, Brianna McGee of Olustee; grandparents, Lawayne and Reba Drury of Olustee, and Jim and Verna Hunter of Altus. He is also survived by his uncles, Ted (Melinda) Drury of Snyder, and Craig Hunter of Tennessee; his aunts, Kenny (Larry) Mercer of Moore, Dean (Bill) Peterson of Ada, Lisa (Bruce) Carson of Altus, Elaine Hunter of Norman, and Sheila LaFerney of Norman. Ed will also be missed by many cousins, other relatives, and a multitude of friends.
The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kincannon Funeral Home. The Drury family requests written stories /memories of Ed Drury be submitted online at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com to be shared at the service Friday evening.
