She was born April 18, 1932 in Mangum to Marie and Ed Montgomery. She was married to August Graumann in Granite on Feb. 18, 1950.
She and August were owners and operators of Graumann’s Pump and Engine Repair until their retirement. She was a bookkeeper for Hyer Oil Company and Southwest Tool Company.
Phyllis and August were instrumental in organizing the first Lutheran Church in Snyder, Texas. She enjoyed the various offices she held in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Phyllis helped found and was an active member, holding various offices in the Big Spring Symphony Guild. She was an active member of the Evangelism Board of St Paul Lutheran Church, making hundreds of visits to newcomers to Big Spring and inviting them to church. She was the treasurer of St Paul Lutheran Church and Alive in Christ Lutheran Church of Big Spring. She was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Dale Montgomery, Carroll Montgomery, and Edgar Montgomery; and one sister, Patricia Mooneyham.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Keith Graumann and Ann; two daughters, Beth Rehn of Dallas, and Jonna and Jeff Mision of Odessa, Fla.; two brothers, Gary and Joyce Montgomery of Altus, and Neil and Cissy Montgomery of Duke; one sister, Sherry and Don Blackwell of Carson City, Nev.; and five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.
Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lone Wolf with B.J. Graumann officiating.
Interment will follow at the Lutheran Granite Cemetery in Granite.
