Lucille Beeson, 84, of Altus, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2011, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Altus City Cemetery with Tom Bailey officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Lucille Mitchell was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Augusta, Ark., to Elbert H. and Bertha A. (Looney) Mitchell. She graduated from Carter High School. She married Arvel L. Beeson on Nov. 6, 1943. She worked as a sales clerk for many years at T G & Y, Wackers, Margie’s House of Hallmark and the Booterie. She was a long time member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, walking, church activities and visiting with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carole Vaughn; a brother, Bob Mitchell; four sisters, Peggy Phelps, Joyce Hammack, Margie Nordman and Barbara Stovall.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Cheri Cumiford and husband Cary of Elk City, Kimberly Haslett of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ryan Robinett and wife Christy of College Station, Texas, Chelsea Nevels of Elk City, and Cody Haslett of Rome, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Kenda Nevels of Elk City; one sister, Wanda Culver of Altus; and many special friends.

The family will greet friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home. Online tributes may be made at kincannonfuneralhome.com
