According to reports Altus Police were initiating a traffic stop on Carrie Street Wednesday afternoon when, Juan J. Gutierrez, 19, slowed the vehicle he was driving, and then fled on foot. The vehicle had been reported as stolen.

Officers and detectives from the Altus Police Department, and the Sheriff’s Department responded in search of Gutierrez through nearby neighborhoods.

At one point, he was thought to be in a house on S. Park Lane, but he was not found.

Gutierrez, who is wanted on an outstanding warrant for sexual battery on a $50,000 bond, is now facing other charges related to Wednesday’s incident.

Autorities are asking that anyone with information about Gutierrez’s whereabouts to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 482-TIPS. Information can remain anonymous, and tips leading to an arrest and conviction can earn a reward.
