The Annual Jackson County Safety Meeting / Safety Award Presentation was held on Dec. 22. Jackson County has 96 employees including the Court House, three District Barns, Sheriff’s Office, and elected officials. The elected officials are not eligible to receive the awards. Jackson County Safety Director, Jerry Gibson, Sr., far left, with some of the Jackson County employees that earned safety awards this year. Gibson said that employees must be employed for and not have had a injury or incident for a minimum of 1 year as of Oct. 31 of each year to be eligible for an award. "It was an honor this year,” Gibson said, "to present 79 awards to qualifying Jackson County Employees. Jackson County had only two minor and one reportable injury in 2011. The Jackson Commissioners strive to create a safe working environment for all employees. As the Jackson County Safety Director I would like to personally thank the employees of Jackson County for their efforts." Employees receive $10 per year that they stay accident free up to a maximum of $200.
