Eldorado, Erick and Tipton were first round winners in Tuesday’s Cottonbelt Conference Basketball Tournament at the Western Oklahoma State College gym.

Eldorado 50, Tipton 45

Girls

It was a game that was marred because 45 fouls were called.

Five players fouled out including Tipton’s Chelsea Heidebrecht, Amanda Rhodes, Kenedy Gilbert and Eldorado’s Cheyenne Colvins and Brandlyn Coronado.

Eldorado held a slim lead through most of the second half. The Lady Panthers led 47-45 with two minutes left in the game. Two free throws by Kelli Wright and one charity toss by Samantha Vantrees sealed the game for Eldorado.

Gilbert led Tipton with 16 points and Vantrees led the way for Eldorado with 20 points which included five 3-point baskets.

Erick 70, Lone Wolf 9

Girls

Maranda Janz led the Lady Bearcats with 20 points. Shyli May finished with 12 points and Kelsey Brinkley had 10 points.

Bethany Crow scored seven points for Lone Wolf.

Boys

Ten players hit the scoring column for Tipton, who is the top seed of the tournament. Josh Torres tallied 13 points and Tanner Knight 11 points.

Adam Coffey paced the Coyotes with 18 points.

It was a tough night for Lone Wolf who suited up only five players.

Tipton moves to Friday night’s finals while Lone Wolf goes to Thursday’s consolation round.

Erick 64, Eldorado 35

Boys

A disastrous second quarter meant problems for Eldorado.

The Panthers led 14-12 at the end of the first period but were outscored 26-7 in the second quarter.

Justin Medina led Eldorado with 17 points.

Erick received a 24 point performance from Bailey Davis.

Thursday’s Schedule

Consolation games are on the slate.

Blair plays Davidson at 4 p.m. and Lone Wolf meets Tipton at 6:40 in girls games. Eldorado plays Davidson at 5:20 p.m. and Lone Wolf meets Duke at 8 p.m. in boys’ game.

Friday’s games

Semifinals are on tap.

Olustee plays Duke at 4 p.m. and Erick meets Eldorado at 6:40 in girls games. Boys’ games has Erick facing Blair at 5:20 p.m. and Olustee meeting Tipton at 8 p.m.
