David L. Caley, Jr., M.D., 55, of Mangum, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at his residence, in Mangum.
David was born on March 1, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa, to David L. Sr., and Kay (Cross) Caley. At age 12, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisc., where they lived until he graduated from Bay View High School, in 1974. David attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas, and later the University of Southern Colorado, in Pueblo. Transferring to Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, he received a degree in Biomedical Chemistry. In 1984, David graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Caley then completed the University of Oklahoma Family Medicine Resident Program, at Tulsa, in 1987. Upon receipt of his Board Certification in Family Medicine, the family moved to Mangum where he continually practiced medicine until his death. On Nov. 12, 1976, God allowed David to marry the love of his life, Renata Pittock, in Canon City, Colo., and they spent the next35 wonderful years together. They have two daughters, Angela and Ashley - their daddys pride and joy.
Dr. Caley, a Godly man who loved and cared for his family, friends and patients, was a member of Gods Holy Church, the Mangum First United Methodist, American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Medicine and the Greer County Medical Association. When he wasnt practicing medicine, David loved farming and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was deeply involved in medical missions in Africa, Costa Rica and was the founder of the Cross Free Clinic in Mangum, which provides free healthcare for those in need.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Carl and Lois Pittock; and one sister, Linda Kay Holtz.
Dr. Caley is survived by his loving wife, Renata, of the home; two daughters, Angela Germany and husband Chad of Waxahachie, Texas, and Ashley Tice and husband Ricky of Mangum; three granddaughters, Mercy Germany, Noelle Germany and Paizlee Tice; his parents, the Rev. David L. Sr. and Kay Caley of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Chris Peppers of Mangum; two brothers, Ed Caley and wife Tammy of Las Animas, Colo., and Guy Caley and wife Kathleen of Lebanon, Mo.; three brothers-in-law, Jerry Wolverton and wife Gladys of Corning, Calif., Charles Pittock and wife Esther of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Ed Pittock and wife Bonnie of Denver, Colo.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends and patients.
The family was to greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services for David L. Caley, M.D., will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Mangum First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Horton and the Rev. Marsha Purtell officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in Dr. Caleys name, to the Mangum First United Methodist Church.
